ERISA COMPLIANCE OVERVIEW
This CE will address one of the most important compliance items that an employer will face when providing benefits. ERISA compliance has been around since 1970, but has been focused on the retirement plan industry. Since the introduction of the Affordable Care Act, ERISA compliance has now shifted to health and welfare and carries steep penalties if employers are not in compliance. Who is subject to ERISA compliance? Is there a difference in what kind of ERISA SPD wrap employers need if they are under 50 lives? How does 5500 filing tie in to ERISA compliance? All of these will be addressed in our ERISA CE presentation.

Technology: Transforming the Employee Benefits Industry
This CE will address one of the hottest topics in the benefits world today: benefits administration systems and how technology and integrations work in the benefits industry. Employer groups are now demanding the benefits broker takes an active consultative role in assisting with benefit administration systems as well as a deep working knowledge of how payroll systems work with these systems and how benefits brokers are able to offer more integrations, create new efficiencies, and reduce cost for their employer groups. This is a trending topic that all benefits brokers must be able to understand in order to keep current clients as well as build their existing books of business!

Best Practices for Sec 125 Plans
This seemingly trivial IRS document carries with it some of the steepest penalties if employer groups are not in compliance. What is a section 125 plan? Why is it important for clients? How does this affect pre-tax employer sponsored plans? What are best practices for an employee benefits broker when it comes to discussing these section 125 plans, also known as cafeteria plans or POP plans? These questions and more will be addressed in our CE for Best Practices for Section 125 Plans.

About Robert Tobin
Robert Tobin has been with Primepay for the last 3 years with a focus in benefits and compliance. Robert works with the broker concierge team at Primepay establishing and maintaining regional and national broker partnerships, educating clients and benefits brokers on ERISA compliance, cobra administration, FSAs, HSAs, HRAs, Non-discrimination testing, Section 125 plans, and how each of them ties into the payroll and benefits administration industry. Robert has experience in the healthcare industry as well as the insurance industry prior to working in benefits and compliance with Primepay, and attended Robert Morris University where he earned an MBA with a focus in strategy and operations, and also holds a certification in flexible compensation.
